JOY OF GIVING

A woman who was traveling alone in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream. The next day she met another traveler who was hungry; the woman opened her bag to share her food. The hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the woman to give it to him. She did so without hesitation. The traveler left, rejoicing in his great fortune. He knew the stone was worth enough to give him security for a lifetime. But few days later he came back, to return the stone to the woman. “I’ve been thinking,” He said, “I know how valuable the stone is, but I give it back in the hope that you can give me something even more precious. Give me what you have within you that enabled you to give me the stone.”The woman smiled and said, “The joy of giving!”JOY-OF-GIVING

Have you ever noticed how you feel when you give away things to others? The Joy of giving just cannot be put into any words but can only be felt, it is a greater than, receiving any kind of gifts.

Give yourself entirely to those around you. Be generous with your blessings. A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal. Giving could be in any format, for some it could be money while for others it could be time. Some people find great pleasures in giving care and working for others or for the society. The happiness that one finds in act of giving, may differ from person to person and their interests. It has also been observed that children also experience a sense of joy when they give their things to the ones, they like.

The joy of giving could be seen on the faces of the people who share and give. The smile, the glow and the happiness are all evident. It is such a pleasure to see those faces. Studies have shown that most people, when they are down or get involved in giving out something, it brightens up their mood and makes them happy.

If you give your time to the one‘s staying at an old age home, or you spare some time for an orphan or you give some gift to a mentally retarded person or give an appreciation to a physically handicapped and show him his quality, then the joy they get on their face will be a reflection of the joy you felt in your heart by helping them. Nobody has time in today’s fast world for helping or giving time to anybody, but if we spare sometime of our life in giving something to someone then we will get immense joy: an unexplainable feeling which makes us proud for our good deeds

A very special form of giving, true giving, comes from the same place, that is from within. They are inexplicably intertwined. Very often it is not money or belongings that people want, it’s the thing that can’t be seen, such as advice, reassurance, kind words, compliments or even a smile. The act of giving doesn’t have to be limited to an exchange of presents at Christmas time or Birthdays.

You may be a bit skeptical, wondering what exactly you have to give. Everybody has something of value for another person. It could be a kind word, a simple smile, some appreciation, the sharing of some special knowledge, even a helping hand or a bit of support during a difficult emotional time. You have something to give everyone. It is one of life’s wonderful paradoxes that you limit the power of your giving by having an expectation of getting something in return. When you give without any thought or desire for something back, your returns will be truly limitless.

The act of true giving is wonderful and amazing. With lots of things in this world to give, there are only limited amount of what you can actually share with others in real life. When you share something to others, who genuinely requires it, then that joy can only be felt but cannot be expressed in words. No matter whatever situation you may be in, when you pass out things that are of great help, then you too get the same joy, which a person whom you have helped, gets. Fortunately, generosity and kindness are not bound to these material limitations.
“Every single act of love, kindness and generosity will multiply and return to you “. The more you give the happier you will feel.
