Education vs Practical Life
“Knowledge is power. Education is strength.”
‘Man without education is like a bird without wings.’ Through our education, we acquire the skills of reading and writing. Literacy has become the prerequisite for modern times. Being an illiterate is treated like an offence in the present day scenario.
Some government helps its citizens to educate either by subsidizing the cost or by giving free education. Education is given importance everywhere. Because, education is the most powerful weapon which you can use in order to change the world.
In this modern world of ‘survival of the fittest‘, only educated people are fit to survive. Education is a basic necessity like food, clothing or shelter. Illiterates are not at all valued. To get this education, people are ready to do, dedicate or donate anything. People are ready to undergo any hardship just for the sake of getting educated. They cross geographical barriers in search of quality education or for getting their education recognized.
While everyone is very particular in acquiring education, they are ignorant of the real purpose of education. They do not know the actual objective of schooling, education and graduation. The whole purpose and meaning of education are misunderstood. Present education system is not sufficient. It is mainly bases on the theoretical knowledge rather than practical knowledge.
The students don’t play active role in attainment of knowledge. Things are loaded on his mind which he cannot digest; he only crams and therefore they never become his own. Our educational system is just “Filling students head with lot of disjointed facts poured into the heads as into a basket; to be emptied out again in examination hall and empty basket carried out again into the world.” This is the reason why a student who succeeds well in his college examination fails miserable in the examination of life.
The relevance of education in practical life is missing. The purpose of education is to solve real life problems and challenges. Contrary to the older belief, education does not leave the desired impact on the society. It has failed to improve the standard of lives of many people.
Education is a success if it develops the minds, if it promotes the skills needed to face the economic battles and real life challenges. Education should serve the utilitarian purposes. Education should give them the patience and perseverance needed in order to survive in the real life.
The key role of education is empowerment. The education system be reconstructed and restructured. Education should give confidence and a battling spirit. If we are not getting jobs, we should be able to create jobs. That is the spirit of education. Education should teach us how to think and not what to think. It should build your intelligence and character at the same time.
‘Study without desire spoils the memory. The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.’ Real education is empowerment…
Get educated, get empowered. Be the change you want to see.
